And Then We Go.
And then we go
when we are no more
all our preferences will be
lost
our likes and our dislikes
not that they ever mattered
things that we lived for
and got upset if we missed
or did not get.
When we are gone
all the energy is gone, all
the thrust, the verve
and all the particles or
waves
that made us what we were
assimilate into something
that is not there
perhaps less stupid
and less perceptible.
When we are gone
even the meaning of what we
were is lost
we do not believe in fairy
tales any more
the memory, or the narrative
to which we clang
like drifting immigrants.
