You No Longer Think.

Is anything worth anything

When you consider how many times

you have flown to the pinnacle

of your hometown belfry

and came thundering down again

each time the noise gets louder?

When you consider

how many people you have met

that gave you a different wisdom

you no longer think in terms of straight lines and circles

or the old goalposts  that became evanescent

nor of the questions you have asked yourself

but of the silent disappearance

of the echoes into meaninglessness.
