A Graven Image.

I have created you

out of the phantoms of my past

out of the primordial chaos

of want and desire

like a graven image

and then started to believe in you

and thought that I  could not live

without you.

I sought you like a soul mate

but have not found your soul

nor could you mate.

I trusted you

like a suckling babe

would trust his mothers breasts

and believed that you could change

the tide of my routine.

Nothing was more saddening

than to find out that you were just

a graven image.
